WAVE520C

WAVE520C is a HEVC/H.265 codec IP core that supports 4K60fps video encoding and/or decoding with HEVC/H.265 in real-time. WAVE520C is Chips&Media's 2nd generation video IP, which achieves the best encoding quality at high resolution and frame rate. It features highly enhanced performance and efficient use of system bandwidth with a frame compression algorithm for high-end multimedia SoCs. WAVE520C is able to encode and/or decode any resolution up to 8192x4096 and guarantees real-time performance for encoding/decoding 4K60fps @500MHz. In addition, by sharing common blocks of HEVC codec, the IP architecture becomes streamlined with minimum logics and memories fitting into small-sized SoCs. Thereby SoCs using WAVE520C are perfectly suited for applications requiring high performance with very low power consumption.

WAVE521C

WAVE521C is a 4K multi-format codec IP to support both HEVC/H.265 and AVC/H.264 video formats. WAVE420 is a UHD HEVC/H.265 HW encoder IP that is targeted for high-end multimedia devices capable of recording up to 4K HEVC's MAIN/MAIN10 video such as camcorders/DSC, digital TVs, set-top boxes, smartphones, tablets, security cameras, and so forth. WAVE420 provides an advanced multi-core architecture to deliver outstanding performance and scalability. WAVE420 requires about 100 MHz clock frequencies to decode 1080p video at 30fps and can be easily extended to 4K resolution at 30fps with 400MHz clock frequencies. WAVE420L is a low-cost HEVC/H.265 HW encoder IP that is capable of encoding FHD/UHD HEVC/H.265 main profile L4.1. This IP core is targeted for the middle to the low-end mobile application processor (AP), IP cameras/sports camcorders, and other SoCs with small-sized areas and low-cost system requirements. WAVE627

WAVE627 is the first runner-up from the new next-generation video codec IP series, WAVE6. This encoder IP supports HEVC,  AVC, and AV1 standards and is optimally architected to support real-time video encoding up to 4K60fps @500MHz.  The architecture is upgraded to support higher bandwidth efficiency, minimum area size, reduced power consumption, and low encoding latency. The Video Coding Engine (VCE) incorporates an on-the-fly entropy engine for simpler architecture and minimum control. The architecture takes full advantage of VCE for the entire encoding process from block-level processing to stream generation. Thus, it is easy to implement software functions based on the simple architectural design, and a specialized hardware block called CFrameTM is integrated into the video IP. With compression of reference frames, this IP core can significantly reduce bus transactions while accessing extensive frame data effectively in the external memory.

WAVE510A

WAVE510A is the world's first commercial AV1 HW decoder IP and is one of the most advanced cores which support the next generation AV1 standard. WAVE510A is an AV1 decoder IP core that is only dedicated to AV1, a patent royalty-free video codec supported by Google, Apple, and many other global CPs (content providers) and is known for approximately 30% better performance than HEVC. WAVE510A is optimally designed and architected to support real-time AV1 video decoding up to 4K60fps @450MHz with a single core. WAVE517

WAVE517 is the world’s first real-time multi-standard decoder, including AV1, hardware IP. This IP core is a multi-standard decoder HW IP, which is optimally designed and architected to support real-time 4K Ultra-High-Definition (UHD) video decoding in HEVC/H.265, AVC/H.264, VP9, AVS2, and AV1 standards. The pre-release of multi-standard HW IP, WAVE517, is targeting 4K Ultra-High-Definition (UHD), which is the first in the industry to support a large portion of almost every codec standard in the market, including the next generation AV1 standard. The WAVE517 is architected for real-time video decoding capability of 4K60fps content at 450MHz in HEVC/H.265, AVC/H.264, VP9, AVS2, and AV1 standards. In order to support 8K60fps, 900MHz clock and multiple cores are required and may achieve up to 8K (8Kx4K) resolution. In addition, WAVE517 is highly optimized for memory bandwidth loading and power management.
