Chips&Media Ships over 20 million Unit SoCs

January 19, 2010  - Chips&Media, Inc., the leading provider of video Intellectual property (IP) cores, today announced that its Semiconductor partners including Freescale, Mtekvision, and top-tier semiconductor companies in Korea, have shipped over 20 million system-on-chips(SoCs) integrated into smartphones, mobile internet devices(MIDs), smartbooks, portable media players(PMPs), digital televisions(DTVs) and set-top boxes(STBs).

Chips&Media’s video IP core families deliver high performance at ultra-low power and also support a wide range of formats including H.264, MPEG-1/2/4, VC-1, DivX, H.263, RealVideo, and AVS up to full HD(1920x1080) resolution. Especially its HD technologies have been recognized worldwide as one of the best video processing solutions and now deployed by over 30 partners for more than 50 of their HD-capable products.

The global trend toward outsourcing in SoC development enables chip makers to accelerate time-to-market while reducing costs and easy to add new features and functions. According to Gartner, the market for third-party semiconductor intellectual property (IP) and chip design services will grow to $4.8 billion by 2012.

“Chips&Media creates video solutions to meet the growing market needs for consumers from mobile to Home consumer devices. Its technology has a proven track record in video processing capabilities.” Said Steve Kim, CEO of Chips&Media, Inc. “Chips&Media’s IP can be used to bring added value to the SoC partners with its successful experiences.”
