WAVE541C
WAVE541C

WAVE541C is a dual-CORE codec IP, optimally architected for real-time encoding or decoding video up to 8K60fps in either HEVC/H.265 or AVC/H.264 standards. SoCs powered with WAVE541C bring 8K content readiness to video generating devices, for example, action cams, mobile video recorders, 360-degree VR devices, and more. This readiness will enable contents creators to generate videos and share them on video platforms like YouTube, which already supports 8K video streaming. In terms of video quality, WAVE541C achieves the best possible video quality given the condition that real-time encoding at such high resolution and frame rate on portable devices. Also, this IP core is designed to have a competitive video quality of x.264/x.265 medium present on the PC or server.

Performance (8K60fps @1GHz)

  • HEVC/H.265 Main/Main 10 Profile, L.5.2 High-tier

  • AVC/H.264 High/High 10 Profile, L.6.0

Interface

  • 32-bit AMBA2 APB bus

  • 128-bit AMBA3 AXI buses

  • Primary AXI interface and an optional secondary AXI interface

Features

  • Frame buffer compression

WAV541

WAVE541

The WAVE541 is a dual-CORE encoder IP, optimally architected for encoding video, up to 8K60fps, in HEVC/H.265 and AVC/H.264 video formats in real-time. This IP core provides high-performance encoding capability, such as 4Kp120 with single-core architecture in AVC/H.264 and 8Kp60 with dual-CORE architecture in HEVC/H.265 standard of an optimized silicon area for 4K Ultra-HD applications. SoCs powered with WAVE541 will bring 8K contents readiness to video generating devices. This readiness will let content creators generate videos and share them on video platforms like YouTube, which already supports 8K video streaming. In terms of quality, considering real-time encoding at such high resolution and frame rate on portable devices, the best possible video quality is achieved. In terms of class competition, the WAVE541 IP is designed to compete with x.264/x.265 medium preset on PC or Server.

Dual-CORE HEVC/H.265 and AVC/H.264 combined encoder IP; with an encoding capability of 8Kp60 content at 1GHz using 12nm or higher technology.

WAVE537
WAVE537

The WAVE537 is a dual-CORE decoder IP, architected for decoding video to 4K120fps, 8K30fps, 8K60fps @900MHz in HEVC/H.265 (dual-CORE), AVC/H.264, VP9, AVS2, AV1 (dual-CORE) standard formats in real-time with the most optimized size and stable decoding performance. The WAVE537 is cost-effective as it is architected to pick out and reuse sharable blocks from various codec standards and apply them to the common blocks, in which the IP architecture becomes streamlined with minimum logics and memories fitting into small-sized SoCs. The IP provides maximum bandwidth efficiency and exceptionally low power consumption across all connected devices. With Chips&Media's proprietary buffer compression technology called CFrame, it saves from 50  percent bandwidth access to memory on average.

The WAVE537 is suitable for applications across various industry segments, including ultra-high-definition televisions (UHDTVs), wearable devices, set-top boxes(STBs), VR·ARs, smartphones, tablets, data server,s, automotive, IP cam/surveillance, driving recorders, infotainments, and any others with super-high resolution.

Performance (8k60fps @900MHz)

  • HEVC/H.265 Main Profile @L5.1

  • AVC/H.264 BP/CBP/MP/HP Profile @L5.2

  • AV1 Main Profile @L5.1

  • VP9 Profile 0/Profile 2 (HBD) @L5.1

  • AVS2 Main 10 Profile @L8.0.60

Interface

  • 32-bit AMBA2 APB bus

  • 128-bit AMBA3 AXI buses

  • Primary AXI interface and an optional secondary AXI interface

Features

  • Frame buffer compression

  • Long burst write
